A day at Six Flags

We decided to take Brooke to Six Flags with the Netherlands. Both Brooke and Reagan had a great time and loved riding all the rides. We only had a couple of meltdowns...Brooke when she wanted to ride a rollercoaster that she wasn't tall enough for and Reagan when we had to leave the park. One almost meltdown for Reagan when she wasn't old enough to play the Wii (thwarted by a game where she and Brooke won stffed blue frogs). One bandaid for Brooke's invisible cut on her leg. All in all a great trip and we will definately being going back, if only for Joe to ride all the big rollercoasters that the girls couldn't ride. See the events of our day below. Also take a look at http://kids.netherland.name for more exciting pictures of our adventure.

the mexican sombrero

Brooke and Reagan's first ride at Six Flags was the giant sombrero. As you can see they loved it.

the longest line...

was for food and drinks. The misters kept the girls entertained while we waited.

all aboard

While Joe and Wynn went off in search of bigger roller coasters, Paula and I took the girls on the train around the park.

just like my poppy drove

not quite, more like my grandfather. Brooke loved the cars so much that this was her second time.

scooby dooby doo

Brooke's new favorite cartoon is Scooby Doo, so she was very happy that she actually got to meet him.

first real rollercoaster

Brooke and Reagan were most excited when they got to ride a ride together like big girls.

pink sparkles

Tonight Brooke had a mini mani/pedi. Although very light in the picture, she has pink sparkly nail polish on. She feels very grown up.

I can do it...sort of

I tried the sippy cup tonight for the first time with Jack. Since he has teeth coming in, he was really more interested in chewing rather than drinking, but we'll keep trying.

picnic in the car

Hungry, cold and tired, the kids were ready to eat. It's less sandy in the back of the car than on the beach, at least it was when we started.

Jim steps in

Little did Jim know that when he agreed to come to the beach today and Joe had to cancel, that he would have 2 kids attached to him. Brooke was excited to have someone to play in the waves with.

Jack's first trip to the beach

By the end of the day, I think that Jack had 1/2 of the sand in his diaper and 1/2 in his mouth. He loved exploring the sand and water at Surfside Beach.

Aunt Mary is the coolest

When Brooke finally warmed up, she loved being around Aunt Mary and Jack loves anyone who will give him their complete attention.

sleepover...the morning after

Joe went and got doughnuts to celebrate how well Brooke and Ben did on their first sleepover. They both woke up about 6:30 this morning and I could hear them tiptoeing around the house to see if anyone else was awake. I was really expecting Ben to come into my room and shout "good morning"

First sleepover

The kids spent the day at Wendy's yesterday and when we left Ben came home with us to have his first sleepover. They have been practicing a lot lately. They loved wearing their matching pjs. They slept all night and I only heard them giggling for about a 1/2 hour before they went to sleep at 8pm.

two peas in a crib

Ben was over today and it got really quiet so I went to look for the two of them. I found them both laying in Jack's crib pretending to sleep.

standing tall

Jack is really starting to get around the house and he is beginning to stand while holding onto something. Soon I won't be able to stop him from getting into everything.

the not so itsy bitsy spider

Jack was at gymboree and the theme was nursery rhymes. A lot of the other kids were scared of the spider, but Jack loved it.

Jack's first haircut

Jack did great, though he didn't want to sit still. Try to imagine cutting the hair of an 8 month old while he is bouncing up and down. It was fun :) Joe will be happy, since he has been telling me that Jack looks like a long haired hippy.

what a difference a year makes

Brooke and Ben have started swim lessons again and they are both doing great. First thing the instructor had them do was go under. No crying or screaming this year.

such a little helper

I walked out of the living room and when I came back in, this is what I found. Brooke was trying to get him to stop crying.
